Home Values Rise 0.3% in July - The Federal Housing Finance Agency reported that the home values rose 0.3% in July compared with June. Year over year, prices fell 4.2% and are down 10.5% from the peak in April 2007. July's prices matched those as of March 2005 according to the report. The largest gain was in the Pacific states were prices rose 1.6% versus the largest drop of 0.9% in the East South Central states (Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi and Alabama). *** Note - Home values are based on repeat sales financed through Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac

Obama Calls for Action on Climate - President Obama told the United Nations General Assembly's Summit on Climate Change on Tuesday that the world's leaders recognize the threat of global warming. "If we are flexible and pragmatic; if we can resolve to work tirelessly in common effort, then we will achieve our common purpose: a world that is safer, cleaner, and healthier than the one we found; and a future that is worthy of our children," Obama said. Obama didn't offer any specific goals in curbing greenhouse gas emissions, but called on world leaders to address the problems of rising sea levels, droughts and crop failures.
